Excursions

Sri Lanka is an island with many faces; palm fringed golden sandy beaches, with destinations that are ideal for a boat ride and view the giants of the deep: Blue, Bryde’s and Fin whales. These are commonly spotted off our coast with as many as ten different species. In addition to this pods of delightful playful dolphins and a morning out on the ocean should be a “must do” on your holiday. A 50 minute drive will take you to the very heart of Whale and Dolphin watching in Kalpitiya, have your cameras at the ready, you don’t want to miss the excitement of seeing these mammals up close. Visits to the prawn and lobster farms can be arranged for those who are interested in learning the way they are bred.

Site Visits

For those who take delight in learning about the culture and life of this island of Serendib, (the ancient name for Sri Lanka, long before it became Ceylon) you may stop at several temples, churches and shrines as this is a land where Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism and Islam coordinate in unison. A day’s outing to visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, to see a herd of elephants taking their daily bath in the Maha Oya river and then on to Kandy for a memorable visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, proven very popular with our guests. Book a boat ride to visit the Muthurajawela Marsh and the Negombo lagoon to observe numerous flora, fauna and fish in their natural habitats. And take the time to enjoy the vibrant town of Negombo, the western hub of the Sri Lankan fishing industry and a throbbing tourist magnet.
